There have been three attempts at making a movie based on Frank Herbert's 1965 novel, "Dune."

The first one infamously failed to even be filmed, thanks to director Alejandro Jodorowsky's outlandish (though original) vision. The second one, often referred to as the original "Dune" movie, was directed by David Lynch and is considered by mostly everyone to be terrible — sorry fans, even Lynch admits it. In 2021, we finally got a "Dune" adaptation that is faithful to the source material, commercially successful and really well done. And on March 1, 2024, the second part of that adaptation was released with similarly positive reviews.
